About Dr. Abeyewardene
He attended the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine for medical school, before completing his orthopedic surgery residency in Grand Rapids, Michigan and a shoulder-to-finger surgical fellowship in Buffalo, New York. Dr. Abeye and his wife went to medical school together and always knew they wanted to return to OKC after completing their training.

Dr. Abeye’s love of the musculoskeletal system led him to a career in orthopedic surgery. He was inspired by the ability of an orthopedic surgeon to diagnose a problem and come up with a plan of action to restore function and quality of life for a patient. As an orthopedic surgeon with specialized training in the upper extremity, Dr. Abeye focuses on disorders and injuries of the fingers, hands, wrists and elbows – and is determined to treat every patient like a member of his own family.
Dr. Abeye has an unwavering passion and expertise in the intricacies and disorders that affect everything from your shoulder to your fingertips, and he always begins treatment with non-surgical options, when possible.
In his free time, Dr. Abeye loves spending time with his wife and children, cheering on the OKC Thunder, OU Sooners, and the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoys playing golf, trying out the newest hotspots in OKC, and spending time with family and friends.
“An orthopedic surgeon may not save one’s life, but can make one’s life worth living.”
