Biceps Tendon Repair
If you have been experiencing intense, sudden pain around the crease of your elbow or pain while flexing your elbow with your palm upwards, you may have had a biceps tendon tear. People often go to the ER after tearing their bicep tendon, or sometimes they partially tear it and not seek treatment until weeks later.

Common Biceps Tendon Injury Signs, Symptoms and Complaints
Biceps tendon injuries have several telltale signs. Here are some common symptoms and complaints you might notice:
- Sudden, sharp pain around your elbow crease
- Cramps in your upper arm after lifting or carrying heavy things
- An unusually large upper arm “Popeye” bulge
- Bruising and/or swelling from your upper arm to your elbow
- Inability to rotate your arm to a palm-up position
- Pain when flexing your elbow and turning your palm upwards
What is Biceps Tendon Repair?
The biceps is the large muscle on the inside of your upper arm – the muscle typically “flexed” to demonstrate strength. When the distal biceps tendon at the elbow is torn, it can lead to pain and functional impairment. Therefore, Dr. Abeye will often recommend surgical bicep tendon repair to reattach the torn tendon back down to where it is supposed to be.

How Dr. Abeye Performs Biceps Tendon Repair
Biceps Tendon Repair Injuries are Highly Treatable
Dr. Abeye uses a heavy suture to reattach the tendon back down to the bone, exactly where the tendon is supposed to be.
