Common TFCC Tear Signs, Symptoms and Complaints

TFCC tears feature several telltale signs. Here are some common symptoms and complaints you might notice:

  • Pain on the pinky side of your wrist when twisting
  • Clicking or popping on the pinky side of your wrist
  • Limited motion
  • Weakness

What is a TFCC Tear?

The triangular fibrocartilage complex, or TFCC, supports the joints between the end of your forearm and your hand, crossing over the pinky side of your wrist, where it connects your two lower arm bones and hand bones. A tear of the TFCC can be caused by wear and overuse or an injury, such as falling on an outstretched hand or wrist, or a violent twisting injury.
